Mother Bird by Emma

a while back Emma wrote a book. she illustrated it and wrote the words and insisted that she should do it herself. she did a terrific job especially since she was only 6 at the time

a few months ago she wrote another one.
again, I'll type it up....

Mother Bird

by Emma McGinnis
November 18, 2010

Once there was a mother bird.
She had a little egg.

She saw another little bird.
The bird had white, tan, and brown. [feathers]

She liked the other little bird.
He was a very nice bird.

One of the little birds went to get food.
The little bird caught a blue bug and went to the nest.

The little bird came back to the nest.
The little bird was surprised!

The little egg hatched.
It is not an egg anymore, it is a baby bird!

The other bird went to get food, too.
The bird saw a very nice cat.

The bird caught a worm.
The bird knows the worm will be good for the baby bird.

The bird came back to the nest.
At the nest there was star bugs, and a green bug.

The baby bird was old enough to fly.
It was old enough to live on it's own.

And they all lived a very happy life.

The End.

isn't that just beautiful? even with the book's little deviation from the plot to seeing a nice cat and then back again, I think this book is better than most books in book stores.

This was a beautiful book. I think we know what Emma is going to do when she is grown up. She will be an author and live happily ever after. The End

I had an english teacher tell me that I should become a writer.
but I didn't have the confidence nor the encouragement and support to make that happen...

so I am doing what I can right now and will do more in the future to make sure she feels like that is an option for her life so that she can "live a very happy life"

I love that nontraditional ending for her book. it's wonderful :)

Great job Emma! Loved it!

almost 2 years have gone by

why do I always do this? so many things have happened in the past two years.  I just feel so silly that I haven't kept up on the blog.  ...
