my pleasure, baby

So, there are times when I walk into a room and am completely revolted. such was the case with my bathroom because of the bath mats and the pee ring around the toilet this morning. Really? I know you boys are little but you have the capability of being able to aim - now Do It!

I Lysoled the potty and threw the bath mats in the washer with a LOT of bleach.

Emma: What's all over the floor?
Me: it's probably garbage I haven't swept up yet.
Emma: it's all wet.
Me: What?!
  • from time to time the laundry room drain (being that this is a very OLD house) will run slow and the water will start to back up a bit in the bathroom sink. ICK i know
I walk into the bathroom thinking the washer back up to the point of over flowing the sink only to find a nice big puddle by the toilet, Not the sink.

Me: is this pee? this is pee!
Ronan: Oh, it was me, it was ME!
Me: Well, this needs to be cleaned up!
Ronan: You can clean it up

what an honor. the pleasure is all mine, apparently

our little visitor

today was so terribly hot. the two oldest kids are away this week at camp and aunt & uncles house. the last three and I were simply melting away here. we are being very stubborn and NOT putting air conditioning in the windows. it wasn't all that long ago that people lived without that blessed piece of technologyone of the ways we used to beat the heat when I was a kid -oh so many years ago- was run through the garden sprinkler. ahhhh.

so we turned on the sprinkler and the kids ran around through it and cooled off and had a good fun time.

I decided that it was just as good a time as any to give the boys a hair cut and got started with that. and then Emma felt like she'd had enough of the sprinkler and went to get her towel.
I heard a shriek. not of fear but of a bit of a shock and fun surprise.

"Mom, I just saw a squirrel! how small can squirrels be?"
I asked if it was a regular squirrel or a chipmunk and they all went to go check.
it was hiding under the van and it would brave out and then seek shelter under the van again. it did this for a couple of minutes and then it must have realized that we weren't going to hurt it and it came out further. I think the poor thing was just getting a cold drink of water from the drips from the sprinkler. he ran around us for almost a half hour, many times getting only a few inches away from the kids or myself.

it's hard to tell size from the pictures, but he must have only been about 6 or 7 inches long nose to tip of his tail.
awwww

well, this is what that was about

yesterday I decided to try Farmers' Market again. After last year I put some thought into what I had made and what I should have made and so this year I tried a much more practical approach. I made wash cloths and soap bags and back scrubber towels. then I had some necklaces and a couple of bracelets with... just in case.

So you see how last year I made $0.00.
well this year I made

wait for it

I'll tell you

it's a surprise!

$0.00!

yep. NOTHING. AGAIN.
so NOT worth it.

people walked by and kind of looked down their noses as they went by, quickly.

I spent several hours at Farmers' Market and all I got was this lousy sunburn.
I should put that on a T shirt

I guess now I will truly take to heart that failure and the etsy store failure and feel justified when I say I am a failure!

I just wanted to cry all day
the end

Wow

I quit

:P **

Gotta love Emma's quick wit

I was having a little chat with Emma this evening. We had been watching a TV show in which a person had needed an Xray because he had eaten quite a number of nonfood items.

she said
"it's like the time I swallowed a quarter"
me
"you swallowed a quarter?!"
Emma
"yeah......... I don't like to think about it"

that just struck me so funny...

washcloths

I have been gradually making (creating) just to keep myself from being bored
I started out a couple of months ago making washcloths with the flower centers. but I got distracted with school letting out and summer vacation taking over

but my hands got bored and I had to do something that would not cover me with pounds of yarn

washcloths are really best little project and I have been making many this week

it has been very hot and humid here and I haven't had the will to work on anything bigger and I guess that means that I will be cutting it a lot closer with the TARDIS blanket I am making my son for Christmas but once it cools off and dries up I will be able to work on that non-stop

so until then I will continue on with tiny projects

jewelry

I haven't worn much by way of jewelry for a while. maybe I've let myself go in more than one way... but that's neither here nor there...
while this summer is hot and uncomfortable I have decided to work on small crochet items so I can continue to be doing something without making myself more uncomfortable.

I have decided that my particular tastes and designs should be categorized as 'shabby chic' but then I could just twist a pun here and call it 'abby chic' - ha ha

but that's not really far from the truth being that I've never been overly fancy. I'm more simplistic in my taste in clothes and jewelry

this month is going to feel weird

I don't know if I've ever mentioned that Erica babysits my dad's dogs. well, she does.
this month is going to be a busy one for Erica but I think that she is going to love it. she gets to be away from home for just under two weeks. she is going to be dog sitting a bit and then she is going to go help my sister in law with baby sitting while she is working on her college classes.
during this time, Timothy is going to be going to scout camp for about 6 days.
we will be down to 3 kids - the oldest of which is 7. I haven't experienced that for nearly 8 years

almost 2 years have gone by

why do I always do this? so many things have happened in the past two years.  I just feel so silly that I haven't kept up on the blog.  ...
